Job Summary

Nature and Human Health- UT/Alliance is seeking a part-time program assistant who will be primarily responsible for administrative tasks including (but not limited to) website development, maintaining databases, running social media, and assisting with logistics related to program implementation. Activities are shared between two related programs, one in Utah [Nature and Human Health-Utah], the other at the national level [Nature and Human Health-Alliance]. Team work and collaboration are valued. Funding is secure for two years, with the strong possibility of further support.

Responsibilities

1. Assists Program Manager in day-to-day operations such as responding to emails, managing calendars, and basic budget/accounting work.
2. Assists with general administrative support, including recording and archiving meeting notes, assisting with grant proposals, preparing budget reports, and supporting work related to publications and articles
3. Develops, oversees, and manages program websites ( NHH-UT, NHH-Alliance, Nalini Nadkarni's website), social media, public relations activities, and an “umbrella” database of people and existing programs related to nature and human health
4. Compiles, sorts, and organizes data for entry into a database, distributes program information, and assists in program research.
5. Responds to queries from and coordinates activities with other departments, the community, and program partners.
6. Assists in the creation and distribution of program materials, forms, and general correspondence.
7. Carry out other related tasks as assigned by the Program Manager
8. Other duties as assigned.

Problem Solving
Incumbents in this position are expected to be familiar with the department's policies and procedures and have working knowledge of University and department organizations and procedures in order to answer and assist staff and visitors. Incumbents are also expected to demonstrate sensitivity to others' needs while being understanding and helpful on the job.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in a related field or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education) required. Two years of related experience, ability to use logic and reasoning to prioritize tasks, expertise using MS Office software, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required. Database experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in a related field may be preferred.

Preferences

One year of related experience, ability to use logic and reasoning to prioritize tasks, expertise using social media and website design, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required. Writing, Zoom/remote work experience, website development and maintenance, and strong communication skills are preferred.

Program planning and implementation experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred. Prior experience working in an academic setting is preferred. Candidate should be comfortable with professional writing and speaking to a range of constituents, including academics, community partners, the public, and policy-makers. A list of references is desirable.
