Job Summary

HCF seeks a highly organized and skilled individual to fill the role of Communications Manager. Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the individual hired for this role carries out essential functions and supports the implementation of strategic planning, execution, and measurement of marketing and communications activities for the foundation.

This includes but is not limited to developing materials and fostering partnerships to drive engagement that supports the foundation's fundraising goals and objectives. This role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the visibility and impact of Huntsman Cancer Institute. They will assist in planning and executing outreach strategies, creating dynamic supporting content in a variety of forms and channels, and ensuring brand clarity and consistency across the foundation. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills to execute these tasks, adept analytical skills to evaluate their efforts, and an understanding of emerging technology that can advance their work. Currently, Huntsman Cancer Foundation has a hybrid work policy. This is subject to change.

Responsibilities
  • Supports the development and implementation of marketing and communications objectives consistent with Huntsman Cancer Foundation's goals.
  • Creates and curates compelling and flexible donor-centric content by engaging with key stakeholders, including both internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Communications to determine appropriate channels for content development that support organizational priorities. This includes oversight of HCF social platforms.
  • Facilitates cooperative and collaborative relationships with community partners and key stakeholders, including HCI researchers, doctors, and staff.
  • Helps create a strategy with internal stakeholders to engage donors and community members to encourage them to give
  • Assists in the creation of strategic marketing campaigns to attract potential donors and steward existing ones. Includes conception of promotional opportunities, crafting messaging and goals, and overseeing the design, printing, distribution, and ongoing use.
  • Serves as an HCF/Huntsman Cancer Institute brand manager, including brand identity and style standards oversight.
  • Reports on success measures of employed strategies, including insights and recommendations for future strategies.
  • Maintains successful relationships with contractors/vendors to deliver compelling content.
  • Monitors media coverage and internal and external news stories to keep oneself and the foundation team informed about relevant topics, ensuring the foundation team remains up-to-date with important trends.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to write/edit according to organizational and industry-standard style guides
  • Strong graphic design skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator)
  • Strong software skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, project management tools, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Internally motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Work Environment and Level of Frequency typically required
  • Nearly Continuously: Office environment.
  • Huntsman Cancer Foundation has a hybrid work policy. Based on outside meetings and other work requirements, employees are asked to be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with the option to work remotely on Monday and Friday. This is subject to change.
  • Some local/regional travel may be required for larger marketing projects, such as video productions.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.

Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.
