The Department of Biochemistry at the University of Utah ( https://medicine.utah.edu/biochemistry) invites applicants for a career-line, lecturer-track faculty position focused on teaching medical and graduate students. We particularly encourage applications from a broad and diverse range of faculty candidates interested in supporting diversity and inclusion within our educational community. Job Summary
Successful candidates will join a vibrant and diverse medical and graduate education and research community with a strong commitment to building an inclusive teaching and research environment. The Department of Biochemistry is located on the Utah Health Sciences Campus and is part of the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine ( SFESOM). Faculty in our Department benefit from the tight-knit, supportive and collaborative educational and research environment at the University of Utah. Faculty in our department also serve in leadership and teaching roles within medical education, and we are looking to add a new member to this team. The Department of Biochemistry and the SFESOM are actively involved in creating an anti-racist environment of inclusion, respect, and support for our community ( https://medicine.utah.edu/biochemistry/diversity/; https://medicine.utah.edu/ohedi ).
Candidates will be expected to participate actively in medical student education, graduate education, and faculty development opportunities. The SFESOM is in the process of significantly changing our medical student education program, and candidates will be expected to adapt flexibly to new educational roles as they develop. Specific roles will include facilitating small group Problem-Based Learning, co-creating and co-leading a science-clinical integrated course, and developing expertise to serve as a domain expert in medical molecular and cellular biology and/or metabolism. Candidates should have strong collaboration and communication skills.
