Job Summary

We seek a dynamic individual with experience in community engagement and team leadership to facilitate our work in building collaborations between researchers and community stakeholders. The Community Collaboration and Engagement Team ( CCET) of the Utah Center for Clinical and Translational Science ( CTSI) seeks to build collaborative and inclusive partnerships to engage and advance efforts to improve the health and well-being of communities and patients, including vulnerable and underserved populations.

This position requires previous project management and community engagement experience among diverse and vulnerable populations, carrying out federally funded research projects, capacity and partnership building, public speaking, and cultivating a successful team. The Associate Director will be responsible for providing administrative, financial, and operational support for our fee-for-service recharge center and train and support the staff in the delivery of those services. The Associate Director works collaboratively with CCET co-directors in a key leadership role in strategic planning and the development of the future direction of the organization and ensure the successful completion of grant goals and timelines. The Associate Director will have opportunities to participate on scholarly and scientific publications and presentations, to contribute to funded projects on the science of engagement, and to participate in training and educational activities.

Responsibilities
  1. Works closely with CCET co-directors to develop, organize, and support all aspects of strategic planning and execution of goals, budgets, and timelines for CCET Fee for Services Recharge Center deliverables.
  2. Works independently and closely with CCET co-directors on ways to address organizational and staff concerns, evaluate, and improve services, and make recommendations to ensure grant goals and objectives are met in the CCET Fee for Service Recharge Center.
  3. Provides administrative, financial, and operational support for the CCET Fee for Service Recharge Center. Works closely with the program coordinators on the daily operations and delivery of patient, community, and other stakeholder engagement services.
  4. Coordinates the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluation of staff and works with them to resolve challenges that arise in the delivery of engagement services. Develops, implements, and facilitates professional development training and activities for the continuous improvement of the staff.
  5. Works closely with staff and co-directors to cultivate strong partnerships and collaborative relationships with community stakeholders and university partners to facilitate and accelerate community-engaged research and translational science locally and nationally.
  6. Participate as assigned on CTSI committees, and engages in networking with community and university stakeholders to build and maintain the broad, diverse connections needed to conduct the work of CCET.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required. Master's degree in Business Administration or related area preferred. This position is not responsible for providing patient care.
