Job Summary
Operates radio broadcast board for KUER as an on-call fill-in host during weekday or weekend shifts as needed, delivering local newscasts and playing back program segments and other audio. Fill-in hosting may include all KUER shifts, with an emphasis on morning drive time (5 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and afternoons drive time (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)Hosting is done on-site at KUER facility.
Responsibilities
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, or a related field, and one year of previous professional experience in the news field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated oral and written communications skills and an understanding of Public Radio and radio broadcasting required.

Responsibilities
- Operates radio broadcast board on an on-call, fill-in basis for KUER weekday mornings from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. or weekday afternoons from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. May fill-in for other weekday and weekend shifts as necessary
- Organizes, writes and delivers multiple local newscasts, live on-air during each shift
- Introduces and plays back long-form local feature stories
- Plays back underwriting messages, show promotions and other audio during local breaks
- Responsible for making seamless transitions between national broadcast and local newscasts and breaks
- Produces some content as required for other newscasts, including cut and copy or wrap-style stories
- Actively participates in KUER fund drives

- Two or more years of experience as a morning or afternoon anchor at a public radio station or similar news environment.
- Experience with Wide Orbit automation system.
- Experience using Burli newscast software.
- Familiarity with NPR programs and news magazines.
- Experience with using remote software and equipment to host from home or abroad.
