Essential Functions: The systems analyst will report to the DBMI PaTH Project Manager and assist with PCORnet queries as well as internally developed queries supporting PCORI/PaTH Network. This candidate will be responsible to maintain, create, and update query specifications, as well as load data into shared desktops for storage and analysis. The candidate will also focus on expanding the capacity of prior work to develop shareable tools to help understand and maintain data quality. The candidate will generate regular data retrievals and summaries across PaTH to ensure consistency and assess availability of data/servers. This candidate will also be involved in creation of SQL scripts to analyze data and perform specific EMR data queries for research studies, data management and analysis, and reporting results. The candidate will initiate contact with scientific and technical faculty, staff, and members of funding agencies to assess their data-related requirements which will guide the design and implementation of the systems. Incumbent will lead contact with internal and external software development teams in coordinating the effective implementation of grant-funded utilized systems. The incumbent will be the go-to person for coordinating technical delivery, code quality assurance, software development best practices, and study/data estimates. This early leadership position entails the process of translating user needs into functional specifications and meeting the broader target outcomes of funded projects. Exposure to multiple computing environments and agile development methodologies is desired. Previous experience with SQL and Python, relational databases, medical terminology, and/or healthcare data preferred. The incumbent must possess organization skills, strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and exhibit professionalism and excellent customer service abilities.
Physical Effort: Ability to operate PC and telephone system and to communicate with others both orally and in writing. Position is largely sedentary, but duties will involve frequent moving within the department and between buildings.
