Statistician (Health Data Analyst) Intermediate/Senior
Summary
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Michigan is seeking a Statistician (Health Data Analyst) Intermediate/Senior to join the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at University of Michigan. This position will include quantitative data analysis, project management and writing in support of the research project "Improving Maternal and Child Health in the Year After Birth: An Early Evaluation of Postpartum Medicaid Eligibility Extensions." led by Dr. Lindsay Admon (UM OBGYN) and Dr. Jamie Daw in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health. The project is funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and will involve the analysis of data from the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH), and National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) to estimate the impact of postpartum Medicaid eligibility extensions on maternal and child health and health equity in the year after birth. The study analyses will primarily use a difference-in-differences approach, and the position requires knowledge and, ideally, experience with this analytic technique. This position can be in-person, remote or hybrid. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain experience with policy-relevant maternal health research at the intersection of academic medicine, public health, and health policy with leading researchers in the field. The Health Data Analyst Intermediate/Senior will conduct data analyses using replicable, transparent statistical programming practices; provide clear analytic interpretations; contribute to manuscripts, presentations, and reports; and contribute to future grant proposals. In addition to scientific outputs, the Health Data Analyst Intermediate/Senior will be involved in knowledge translation efforts with the state and federal government and other policymakers to maximize the impact of this project on public health policy and practice. The Health Data Analyst Intermediate/Senior will also have the opportunity to engage with the broader scientific community (e.g., attending seminars, research meetings, networking) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Institute of Health Policy and Innovation at the University of Michigan as well as at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
