Public Relations and Communications Strategist

SALARY RANGE: $85,968 or commensurate with experience
Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt
Shift: Monday to Friday; 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for oversight of internal and external communications, as well as creating a positive image and perception of Oklahoma City-County Health Department (OCCHD) by supporting the Chief Executive Office, the Executive Team and OCCHD's strategic plan. The position is accountable for directing the functional areas of outreach, communications, and external relations, and responsible for working closely with OCCHD leadership and their teams and serves as OCCHD Foundation liaison. This position is responsible for planning, coordination, and implementation of internal and external OCCHD related events.

This is an evolving position located in the Executive Division and reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position functions at the leadership level (Tier 3) as defined by the Council on Linkages Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals in the Program Development area with integration of all Core Competency Domains. An emphasis on the following domains is important in this role:

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

-Master's Degree in Public Health, Community Health, Journalism or related field plus a minimum of five years' relevant experience (e.g., strategic community outreach, communications, marketing) required

OR

-Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Community Health, Journalism or related field plus a minimum of six years' relevant experience (e.g., strategic community outreach, communications, marketing) required

-Two years supervisory experience preferred

-Valid Oklahoma driver license required
