Public Safety Officer (Full Time)
North Cornwall Township is accepting applications for a full-time Public Safety Officer.

The position will be a full-time position, working a minimum of 40 hours per week.

General Responsibilities:
- Township Code / Ordinance Enforcement, fire safety inspections, sanitary sewer, grease trap inspections and assistance to the Township’s Public Works crew on an as-needed basis. Individuals must be self-motivated, disciplined, able to communicate with the public and co-workers in a courteous, articulate manner. Applicant must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and can work in adverse weather conditions. This position will be under the supervision of the Township Manager, Public Works Director, and the Chief of Police.
Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site property maintenance inspections as required to verify Ordinance compliance.
- Create and mail Notice of Violation (NOV) letters, NOV Enforcement Fees, and administer and monitor all property violations.
- Create written reports on all inspections and maintain records necessary for possible legal action as required.
- Conduct residential and commercial fire safety inspections to verify compliance with fire prevention codes and ordinances.
- Administer and mail annual KNOX box renewals, verify ordinance compliance, execute follow up inspections.
- Administer and mail annual private fire hydrant inspection notices, verify ordinance compliance.
- Administer the Fats, Oils, and Grease (F.O.G.) program including on-site grease trap inspections as required.
- Assist with the Township’s sanitary sewer administration, on-site inspections, and enforcement of sanitary sewer violations.
- Assist Public Works crew with snow removal and any other duties as assigned.
- Assist Police Chief or Police Officers as needed.
- Assist with the Township’s stormwater administration, on-site inspections, and enforcement of stormwater violations.
- As required by the Township, attend code enforcement training classes and seminars or other assigned training to acquire any licenses or certifications for this position’s duties.
- Administer the safety standards and condition of all Township owned property structures and equipment.
- Attend all Township Safety Committee meetings and present for all annual training and inspections.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Valid PA State Driver’s License (or out-of-state driver's license with the ability to obtain PA license within 30 days after hire date)
- Fire Inspector I Certification (DOD, IFSAC or Pro Board)- Must obtain within 12 months of hire
- Basic understanding of current North Cornwall Township Ordinances
- International Property Maintenance Code Certification- Must obtain within 12 months of hire
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- Ability to pass a background check
- Microsoft Word 365 experience
- Microsoft Excel experience
