The Lincoln Journal Star, a Lee Enterprises, Inc. publication, seeks a versatile Sports Engagement Editor who will also be a part of a HuskerExtra team that covers University of Nebraska athletics.
The ideal candidate is an expert at online strategies, ensuring we reach the right audience at the right time. The candidate will implement an aggressive social media approach and will send timely news alerts, write engaging headlines and occasionally write content, including Husker Highlights, a weekly piece for HuskerExtra. The digital sports producer will be thoughtful and strategic with a drive to boost subscriptions - both to the Journal Star and HuskerExtra, a premium, subscription-only website publication.

This position will be based in Lincoln at a new Journal Star office that features modern workstations, a state-of-the-art video studio and comfortable collaborative spaces, our new offices don't look like a traditional newsroom.
Lincoln provides diverse cultural, entertainment and recreational opportunities befitting of a state capitol that doubles as home to a big flagship university. Our office sits on one of state's best-interconnected bike trails and the city is full of craft breweries, coffee shops and small, independent restaurants. Pinnacle Bank Arena, home to NU's two basketball teams, dozens of major concerts and a weekly Farmer's Market each year, anchors the downtown Haymarket entertainment district.
