Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship beginning August 1, 2024. This is a full-time, one-year position with a teaching load of six courses. The appointment has the possibility for renewal contingent on successful annual review and ongoing curricular needs. The Management and Entrepreneurship Department challenges our students to explore solutions to a wide range of societal issues, to collaborate with their peers and faculty to propose solutions, and to act - solving problems by implementing their interdisciplinary, collaborative solutions to these issues, often through community engaged approaches. We are looking for candidates who can teach at least two of the following courses: Quantitative Tools, Data Analysis, Managerial Accounting, Managerial Finance, Fundamentals of Marketing, and Organizational Management. Responsibilities include: teaching and developing courses for this new major, existing minor, and for the Master of Science in Management program; mentoring and advising students; and supporting co-curricular programming (e.g., pitch competitions, idea incubators, etc.) in coordination with the Centennial Center for Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation.

Founded as Hobart College for men and William Smith College for women, Hobart and William Smith today is a highly selective, gender diverse residential liberal arts institution with a single administration, faculty and curriculum. The Colleges are located in a small diverse city in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. With an enrollment of approximately 1,700, the Colleges provide a rigorous curriculum from which students choose two areas of concentration from a wide array of majors and minors, and offer three Master's programs. Creative and extensive programs of international study and public service are also at the core of the Colleges' mission.


Qualifications
Successful candidates should have earned a Ph.D. or terminal degree in an appropriate field related broadly to management or entrepreneurship, or be ABD. We especially encourage newer Ph.D. graduates or soon-to-be graduates to apply as well as well as MBA/DBA applicants who hold substantial experience in training, coaching, mentoring, and/or consulting. Candidates will want to demonstrate areas where they have worked with academic departments and programs outside of their particular areas of scholarship, teaching, and/or practice. Preferred qualifications include:

· Practical/professional management, leadership, or entrepreneurship experience in the for profit, non-profit, or public realms;

· Teaching experience with a record of strong teaching or evidence of teaching potential;

· Commitment to the role and mission of an inclusive, selective private liberal arts college.
