Job Summary

Develops and executes a creative marketing, social media, and public relations plan that will allow the department to maximize its revenue potential and attendance while building the brand image of the FIU Panthers locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Oversees the marketing for all 17 intercollegiate sports programs.
  • Develops and executes a creative marketing, social media, and public relations plan that will allow the department to maximize its revenue potential and attendance while building the brand image of the FIU Panthers locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Plans and directs the department through social media, advertising, promotions, and grassroots marketing and community activities.
  • Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Contributes to the mission and vision of a strong, Division I-A intercollegiate athletic program.
  • Develops and monitors unit budget and ensures units stays within allocated budget. Establishes departmental policies and procedures for the procurement of goods and services.
  • Maintains compliance with NCAA, Conference USA, and Florida International University policies.
  • Oversees the mascot and spirit group program and coaching staff.
  • Serves as primary contact within the Athletic department in charge of upholding university branding standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality for the department. Treats with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity any matter pertaining to academic and personal data of student athletes and any information either directly or indirectly impacting the University and/or Athletic Department.
  • Adheres to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Senior Associate AD, Brand Advancement. Reports any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinate as it relates to NCAA regulations.
  • Oversees the marketing for all 17 intercollegiate programs. Interacts and collaborates closely with external units to carry out direct sales and attendance initiatives at sporting events. Coordinates with external relations on collateral materials to ensure brand integrity.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with campus stake holders including but not limited to SGA, Campus Life, Alumni, etc.
  • Collaborates with External Relations on all collateral materials to ensure brand integrity
  • Advises on status of current activities, prepares appropriate recommendations for solutions to problems, and coordinates the establishment and implementation of administrative policies and procedures, internally, and externally.
  • Grows fan support and departmental revenues by working closely with other internal Athletic and FIU departments.
  • Identifies and manages issues impacting FIU's Athletics reputation, image, and public relations.
  • Coordinates operational and special events activities. (i.e., Coaches Tour and Signing Day Social). Manages the administrative staff and assists in the development of the operating budget
  • Oversees all aspects of the following units and programs: Media Relations, Marketing, Social Media, and Video. Establishes and monitors goals for the units as a whole as well as individual employees.
  • Oversees the development and execution of social media platforms to ensure the maximization of creative and effective messaging to targeted audiences.
  • Establishes relationships with local, regional and national media members to enhance the department brand and storytelling
  • Oversees the strategy for crisis communication.
  • Responsible for the fulfillment of Freedom of Information Act requests.
  • Works in conjunction with the Athletic Director and Director of Finance and Accounting with the budget preparation, interpretation, coordination and supervision for marketing, promotional, video, and social media.
  • Develops and implements overall athletic department branding campaign to include creative, media buys, collateral materials, and promotional programs. Researches and directs initiatives that allow the department to better understand its consumer base and position in the entertainment and sports market in South Florida.
  • Works in conjunction with NIL liaison to further NIL efforts for the department and FIU student-athletes
  • Directs implementation and fulfillment of all media buys for the department of Athletics. Monitors successes for placement and such media buys.
  • Directs and supervises relationships with selected advertising agencies to develop and execute general market advertising campaigns that would build and enhance the FIU Panther brand and impact key revenue and attendance areas.
  • Continues to elevate the FIU brand through creative and engaging content for target consumers which include, but are not limited to, student-athlete prospects, donors, fans, and prospective stakeholders and current student-athletes.
  • Creates comprehensive strategies to advance the mission of FIU Athletics through innovation, technology, and creativity.
  • Creates annual key performance indicators for the units of oversight and track/report progress.
  • Ensures designs and content reflect consistently and positively the brand image and ideals.
  • Stays abreast of national best practices and available technologies to be a leader in college athletics.
  • Supervises the department's daily workflow, project workload, and monitor deadlines.
  • Serves as an University card user for departmental transactions.
  • Adheres to University credit card policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and eight (8) years of compliance experience or Master's degree in a related discipline, and six (6) years of compliance experience.
Departmental Requirements
  • Adheres to NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Experience with marketing, social media, or public relations in an athletic environment.
