Chief of Police – City of Clayton, AL
       

The Clayton Police Department seeks a highly qualified and experienced individual to serve as our next Chief of Police. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Provide strategic leadership and direction to the department and extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of modern police science and administration.
•    Oversee all aspects of law enforcement operations, including patrol, investigations, community engagement and administration.
•    Develop and implement department policies, procedures, and initiatives to ensure the safety and security of our community.
•    Cooperate with other law enforcement agencies for the cooperative detection of crime and apprehension of violators.
•    Work and patrol Shift, respond to call.
•    Attend council meetings.
•    Enforcement of Laws and ordinances.
•    Present Budget to the council.
•    Participate in Police training programs.
•    Basic Computer skills
•    Prepare and present oral and written report to the Council and Mayor.
•    Other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

•    Minimum of an associate degree
•    Minimum of 5 years’ experience in law enforcement.
•    Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
•    Other combination of experience and education that meet the minimum qualification may be considered.
•    State Certified Peace Officer certified of State of Alabama.
•    Establish Residency required no more than 14 miles outside the city limits (However Consideration may be made if living within Barbour County). If living outside of Barbour County they must be willing to relocate within 90 days once hired.
•    Must be able to work full-time, to serve the citizens in Clayton.

Salary: $63,000.00 with Full Benefits
