Basic Function:  The primary responsibility of a Childcare Coordinator is to write, implement, and organize the daily child development activities in collaboration with the Children’s Services Director and the Early Childhood Education Coordinator. They will work closely with the Lead Clinical Behavior Specialist to make sure all children and their academic differences are considered.  They will also work with the Assistant Clinical Director to make sure lesson plans include appropriate pro-social activities.

Scope: The Childcare Classroom Coordinator acts as a lead teacher in our collaborative, supportive, team approach to educating children with serious behavior differences. They maintain the daily group activities in coordination with the entire team.  

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Education:

  • High School Diploma
  • 3+ years of Childcare Experience
  • Associate degree in early childhood education

Physical Skills Required:

  • Speak clearly.
  • See and hear.
  • Perform physical activities that require use of arms, legs and moving the whole-body including but not limited to stooping, kneeling, and lifting children.

  • Plan / Organize

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Plans and writes lesson plans for the classroom and manages the flow of daily activities.  
  2. Provides safety, emotional, and physical care for children and their belongings.
  3. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in the classroom or bus environment.
  4. Uses positive techniques of guidance. 
  5. Shows affection by smiling, touching, and holding children.
  6. Performs housekeeping chores to maintain clean and organized classroom environment.
  7. Maintains confidentiality.
  8. Demonstrates professional manner in interactions with students, families, staff, and the community.
  9. Writes notes to parents as needed.
