Job Description:


Budget Title: Lead Programmer/Analyst (SL-3)

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Binghamton University is seeking a highly motivated Physical Security Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in revolutionizing our physical security systems, focusing on mobile credentialing, camera analytics, and Banner attribute-based access control.

Responsibilities:

System Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Be a go-to problem solver for physical security servers and systems, maintaining and resolving issues on a variety of platforms, including Windows, Linux and Mac. Conduct system installations and upgrades for both software and hardware, i.e. server installations, server OS installations and installation of software packages that manage door access, CCTV, etc. Maintain system integrity through regular backups and updates to systems.

Access Control: Work with data feeds from multiple sources (student information system, HR system, ID card system) and implement business rules and logic within door access control systems based on attributes within the data. Ensure that access levels are inherited efficiently and securely across the university.

Mobile Credentialing: Harness your technical prowess to lead the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting as a mobile credentialing system is implemented. Collaborate with stakeholders to implement seamless and secure mobile access solutions for our campus community.

Innovation and Emerging Technologies, such as Camera Analytics: Stay at the forefront of security technology. Identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend modifications to enhance our security posture and implement new technologies, such as the adoption of camera analytics for life safety and operational benefits. Utilize your analytical skills to extract valuable insights from data, enhancing both security and efficiency.

Collaborative Project Leadership: Work closely with campus partners, such as the NYS University Police Department, Physical Facilities, and Residential Life, to provision security controls for new construction/renovation projects and life-safety solutions.

Data Analytics and Reporting: Leverage your data analytics skills to monitor security conditions and advise on risk mitigation strategies. Set up and manage automated and custom reporting to inform decision-making.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree and one year of experience in an Information Technology related field
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with experience in a relevant information technology field, such as system administration, database administration or network administration
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including senior management, security personnel, and contractors
  • Possess strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and impart these skills to colleagues
  • Work effectively as part of a team or independently
  • Adapt to a culturally diverse environment and handle sensitive information with discretion
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in criminal justice, security management, or a related field
  • Experience with Genetec life safety systems, including setup and management
  • Experience with Information Security, Risk Management, Network Security, and Telecommunications
  • Possession of industry-recognized certifications such as Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
  • Knowledge of the latest physical security technologies, including camera analytics, drone technology, and critical incident response solutions
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools, especially TeamDynamix
  • Experience with risk assessments
  • Knowledge of Data Use Agreements
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting building plans and schematics
  • Prior experience in a university-based or research technology environment
  • Experience working in a large, complex academic organization
