Job Description:


Budget Title: Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator (SL-3)

Salary: $60,000 - $75,000

Binghamton University is looking for a full time Construction Manager to join our Planning and Construction Management Team within Facilities Management. This position would report to the Assistant Director of Planning and Construction Management.

Construction Managers work with the State University Construction Fund (FUND), Contractors, Facilities Management staff and on-campus departments on the design and construction of Capital Projects.

The incumbent will act as the primary contact person for all assigned projects from planning through execution by focusing on campus needs, impacts, budgets and schedules. They will be tasked with monitoring construction schedules, reviewing design and construction documents, keeping construction documents current during projects, attending job and coordination meetings, observing tests performed on the job site, maintaining office records and files according to an established standard, preparing daily reports, reviewing submittals/shops, reviewing payment applications, assisting with inspection reports, and tracking/coordinating issues during the construction warranty periods. They will be expected to be on site daily and have knowledge of job site safety.

The successful candidate will be a proactive, self-motivated professional with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; who possess the ability to maintain collaborative relationships and adapt to change while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

The successful candidate should expect to be assigned to the following types of projects which are important to maintain the facilities on campus: annual roof, storefront, utility (such as medium voltage and high-temp hot water), elevator replacements, ADA upgrades, and faade replacement projects. There are also ongoing paver replacement projects, and lab renovations and larger renovation projects are also being planned for future construction.

Due to the nature of the work, this position may require a non-standard work schedule with the ability to respond to off-hour emergencies.

This is a 100% salaried professional position, United University Professions represented with annual renewal requirements; and is eligible for an excellent NYS benefits package.


Requirements:


Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Associate's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or other related field
  • Five to seven years of progressive experience in project management and/or working in the construction trades
  • Proficient in computer applications with the ability to use facility management programs, project management and spreadsheet software, calendar tools and other related software
  • Knowledge of construction methods and technologies with a thorough understanding of project specifications, plan drawings and other construction documents; including submittals and shop drawings
  • Organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex issues with a diverse population
  • Valid Driver's license
Preferred:
  • Experience in a higher education setting with multi-million-dollar facilities; prior knowledge of project management including planning, design, construction management, cost estimating, and budgets
  • Working knowledge of New York State Building Codes and other code standards
  • Technical knowledge of architectural, mechanical and electrical building systems
